The If I Were President essay contest is open to high school students in grades 9 through 12 who reside or attend school in Horry, Georgetown or Brunswick Counties.
Each student will be able to submit his or her essay on Jan. 14 through Feb. 1. The essay committee consisting of reporters and editors at The Sun News/MyrtleBeachOnline.com will choose the top 15 essays as finalists.
The public will then be invited to choose the winning essay by voting Feb. 9 through noon Feb. 16. Individuals can vote up to one time per day.
Are there prizes?
Yes! The first place winner will receive a $500 savings bond. Various other prizes will also be awarded.
